Gartner Positions Itron as a Leader in Magic Quadrant for Meter Data Management Products Report
Evaluation based on ability to execute and completeness of vision
LIBERTY LAKE, Wash. — Dec. 18, 2014 — Itron, Inc. (NASDAQ: ITRI) announced today that the company has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the "Leaders" quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for Meter Data Management (MDM) Products1 for its MDM solution. Itron believes its continued ability to successfully deliver its MDM solution and completeness of vision enabled the company to maintain its position in the coveted Leaders quadrant.

Gartner's research, authored by Zarko Sumic and released on Dec.16, 2014, evaluated 13 "vendors that met the report's inclusion criteria, including offering an MDM product that supports all key components of energy consumption data lifecycles and scalability to support interval meter reading. Vendor's products must support the traditional use of metering data for billing, load research, market data exchanges/settlement and network asset analysis.

According to the Gartner report, leaders in the MDM market "should perform profitably, grow their revenue and have a presence in all major markets. Their functionality has to be above average, and their technology and scalability must be leading-edge. Leaders in this market must pair advanced technology with broad offerings, rich functionality and the capability to configure their solution to different needs as well as to offer their solution both on premises and in the cloud."
The "Ability to Execute" axis evaluates MDM software application vendors on the quality and efficiency of the processes, systems, methods or procedures that enable their performance to be competitive, efficient and effective, and to positively affect revenue, retention and reputation. The "Completeness of Vision" axis evaluates MDM application vendors on their ability to convincingly articulate logical statements about current and future market directions, innovation, customer needs and competitive forces.
