Itron's Industry Leading Residential Smart Metering Solution Certified in Brazil
Proven smart meter allows consumers to manage energy consumption and contribute back to the grid
LIBERTY LAKE, Wash.—Aug. 29, 2013—Itron, Inc. (NASDAQ: ITRI) announced today that its industry-leading residential smart metering solution is now certified for the Brazilian market. The OpenWay® CENTRON® residential smart meter received Inmetro certification in July 2013. This flexible and proven meter addresses the Brazilian market's wide variety of needs, including smart payment, distribution generated and "white tariff" or dynamic pricing capabilities.
With multi-application functionality, the Itron smart meter will bring more transparency to the national electric system and help both consumers and utilities better manage resources. The meter addresses the upcoming market requirement for accurate time-of-use pricing while also enabling customers to prepay for electricity and integrate renewable energy sources onto the grid.

The meter will be demonstrated during Metering Latin America 2013. The conference takes place at Transamérica Expo Center in São Paulo city from August 27 to 29. Itron will also showcase other integrated solutions for the sustainable management of electricity, gas and water consumption. It will also participate as panel moderator for sessions discussing the smart grid.
